buzz in the radio

We bought a 2008 Cirrus, by Pilgram, last Sept. When ever we play the radio and turn on a celling light we get a buzz in the radio. I have tried a different radio and plugged it in every outlet but still get the same buzz. Sometimes the buzz is so bad you can not list to whats on. The problem seem to be only with campground power and when we tried it at home it worked fine. I know it has something to do with a ground somewhere. I just wanted to see if someone might have had this problem before. Pilgram has been asked for help but have not heard from them yet.

RE: DO ANY OTHER GMC 6.0 LITER GAS ENGINES HAVE THIS PROBLEM

I have a 2008 6.0 chevy and I have only 4800 miles on it. Most of the time when I start it up after sitting all night or all day I hear what sounds like lifter noise until they pump up. I have not spoken with the dealer yet but I am planning on calling. Sounds like the lifters drain out after sitting. If that is what is happening, other than beating up the bottom of the lifter I am not sure it there could be much damage???

RE: where are you going

We are going to leave on the 24th and drive to the Badlands National Park and stay for one night and then on to the Black Hills near Custer for a week. This will be the longest trip with this size trailer for us. It is our 30th anniversary and we wanted to do something special. I have pulled a popup this far a few times but not a 27 footer. We have a new truck and a new TT so should be alot of fun.

slide out question

I have two small jacks that are to be used to hold the slide out in. Has anyone ever used them or had a slide out come out while on the road? Do not know if I need to use them or not.

RE: Tips on tracing an electrical draw

You might try stopping at an auto parts store or the auto department at Wally World and get a 12 volt test light. They can not be much. Then disconnect the positive wire on the battery and connect the test light between the post and wire. If you have a draw or current flow the light will light. Then start disconnecting things till the light goes out. If your trailer is not plugged in it must be a 12 volt drain somewhere. This is an inexpensive way to start with.

RE: 2001 Dodge Dakota Towing?

I would agree with wa8shc above. I had a 2001 Dakota with a 4.7. At that time I had a 24 hybird that scaled about 4500#. If I came upon a hill or a head wind that trailer was all that truck could handle. If he was going to go only a few miles to camp he might be ok but longer trips would be a pain. He will be much happier with a lighter TT.

sway bar question

I have never needed a sway bar before but we just got a new 27 TT we are taking a trip to the Black Hills and I think I need one. I bought one from a friend and found it doesn't have the small ball that mounts on the reciever. I have not been able to find one listed online yet so maybe have to stop at the dealer. I did not think it would be that hard to find one. Once I have that then all I have to do is mount this. Based on the instruction it seems simple, just measure back 24 inches and drill four holes. Is it that simple? Am I missing something. If anyone has any advice that would be great.

RE: Any Ideas of What TT This Is?

Serro-Scotty has made very small travel trailers for years although this does not look like one. ??

RE: Cirrus or Rockwood

I just bought a Cirrus 27 CRB. My TT has an I-beem frame and covered underside along with an insulated celling with ducted air conditioning. Since we just got this last August we have not used it much. I liked the look of the frame after all the threads in this forum about frame bending. I am sure both are very nice and you probably can do fine with ether.

RE: Dodge Dakota

I agree with all the above. I had a 01 Dakota 4.7 with the 3.55 gears and tow package. My trailer scaled with no water but all the gear at 4800 lbs. I was fine on the level but up a long hill or into the wind you had to get it to shift down to keep your speed up. It did struggle. I think I would still be pulling with the dakota if I had not gotten a bigger TT. We did not take long trips so as most above have said you can get by but you are at the top of the limits of the truck. Good luck.

RE: new 6.0 question

Thanks to all for all the info. I did decide to get the 2008 Silverado Max Ext Cab 6.0. It has 3.73. I can not wait to back up to the trailer and go. Even though it is 5 below zero I think DW would like to go now. Aaa snow drift in the way, darn. When the salesman delivered the truck he came about 70 miles. The computer said 18 mpg. I checked my in town mileage and am getting around 13. The hitch height is the same as my old truck so I will not have to do anything hook up and go. The truck even comes with a built in trailer brake. Again thanks to all for all the help. What a great forum http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p253/virstens/my_truck_003.jpg height=300 width=500

Black Hills camping

Even thought I live 350 miles away I haven't camped in the Black Hills in many years. DW and I are planning on a trip there next summer with our new TT to celebrate our 30th anniversary, instead of Hawaii. It will be our first long trip with this size TT. We always had a pop-up before. Now to get to the question. What is the best camp ground to stay at? Years ago we stayed at a few but I have read in this forum about the experience of other. We where thinking of stopping at the Badlands for one night. Has anyone stayed overnight there. I know the one camping site does not have any electricity and the other is closer to the interstate. Thanks for the help. Post moved from TT Forum to Campgrounds, Resorts, and Attractions Forum Moderator - TT Forum
